F1 in Schools is a global multi-disciplinary challenge in which teams of students aged 9 to 19 deploy CAD/CAM software to collaborate, design, analyse, manufacture, test, and then race miniature compressed air powered cars made from F1 model block.

F1 in Schools offers a way to learn Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) subjects in an exciting way. Many students who take part in F1 in Schools have gone on to forge significant careers including positions in Formula 1 teams.

Stanhope-Seta is proud to sponsor team Imperium from Robert May’s School in Odiham, Hampshire. Imperium is made up of 5 pupils, aged 14 to 16 who are led by student Amber Mylrea. Amber explains,

“We spend about 600 hours designing and building our car, alongside this we also have to produce a portfolio and are examined on our knowledge by 15 judges. All of this is done as an extra-curricular activity. Taking part in F1 allows us to experience what it would be like to work in engineering, Formula 1, science or marketing.”

33,000 schools across 56 countries take part in F1 in Schools and Robert May’s has a track record for progressing through the competition and placing high. Since 2004, Robert May’s has produced 12 national champion teams and 1 world champion team.

Stanhope-Seta will be cheering Imperium on as they embark on their second year of competing with the regional competition kicking off in March 2021. Good luck Imperium!
