This Year’s GASP Students Complete their 5 Week Course at Seta
Congratulations to the six Year 10 students from the Jubilee High School, Addlestone for completing their five week course with GASP.
Stanhope-Seta is a proud supporter of the GASP Charity programme who provide specialist, practical, hands on experiences to deliver courses in basic mechanics and practical engineering skills for young people between the ages of 14 and 19 years old.
Earlier this year, Stanhope-Seta launched a new project with a new group of students who were challenged to design and build a speaker. The students had no previous experience of any manufacturing processes and faced a few challenges along the way. Each week we introduced the group to a new skill which allowed them to develop and design their own speaker. These skills included Tinker CAD for design, 3D printing of the associated parts, soldering, programming and coding.
We are incredibly proud of the students who took part in the 5-week course. Each individual showed an abundance of dedication, persistence and problem solving capabilities. It’s been a pleasure to provide such an inspirational opportunity and see them grow over the process. We have truly enjoyed having the students at Seta and believe that introducing them to these experiences contributes to their own positive personal development and aim to inspire them by presenting them with exciting alternative routes to further education, training and employment.
Julie Garrood, a staff member form Jubilee High School has said “The students had an amazing experience during their time at Seta. Jadranka and the team at Seta were incredible. Every process was explained in such a way to allow students to follow instructions and still stay fully focused and enjoy the whole experience. Both myself and the students would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who made these visits possible”.
We are thrilled to support GASP and the young students who attend. Stanhope-Seta hopes to help inspire and prepare more bright, young engineers of the future. For more information on GASP and the opportunities at Seta, please email marketing@stanhope-seta.co.uk
