CFBT test added to spec

The new test method IP 618 (Determination of Cold Filter Blocking Tendency) is now included in BS EN 590:2013+A1:2017 (Automotive fuels – Diesel – Requirements and test methods).

As reported at the 15th International IASH Conference (Rome) in September this year, over the last several winters the number of diesel filter blocking incidents for cars and light duty vehicles has increased in the United Kingdom. A clear correlation between low temperatures and increased vehicle filter blocking was reported, with ambient temperatures below 3C thought to be critical.
